Salem Bound

After a long week of doctors and illness...we headed to Salem to visit with friends and family!

Look at me! Hands free....and just by chance that I had the camera!

Poor John....all he wants to do is move.

Seriously.....who gave this kid A BAT?

We got to visit with Riley...and her mother put in a bow just for us!!!

It pays to have friends that work in the candy business.....

Caroline was loving on John....

then he wanted a piece.

What can I say...this girl loves beer bottles. Shame.

It is not often that John wonders why she is crying.

Believe me...this is the best you can get with four almost one year olds.

Back for more.

Aww....so sad. John was a serious sock stealer. And he looks proud.

Cooper was there to "help" John on the train.

Not a Stellar Weekend

The babies were sick all weekend. It was pathetic!! Poor things....both babies still had a fever today so we had to call in a Grandma to come help the babies tomorrow. No daycare again for us! Boo!

Sorry to the Stepp Family, the Slevin Family, and the Light Family for canceling plans. So sad....I hope we can see you all soon!!

And a big welcome to Baby Ryan!!! We can't wait to meet you soon!!!!

We can still play....even when we are sick!

But look how pathetic.....

Even got tired while we were playing.

And then we had to move the cribs down. Sigh.

Sick Babies

Poor things! We woke up yesterday to a soaking wet Virginia....and a fever of 102. So Joe got them ready and I went to school to make plans, try to get a sub, etc... When I got back, I took them to see the Dr. and sent Joe to work.

Little Virginia has another ear infection....tubes are in her future for sure. I figured while we were there, we should get John checked out too! They think he has strep....so we have canceled all weekend plans...boo! And we are settled in to do some house chores and hang around.

It was touch and go last night for a few minutes when Virginia's fever got up to 104.7! You know it is bad when you call the night nurse and an ACTUAL DOCTOR calls you back. Yowza. But she is a bit better today and her fever is down to 101.3! It could be a long day in the Koontz house!!

Fun Facts Part 2

So we have had a busy week....no pics to prove it!!

Fun Facts About Virginia:
*She has 7 teeth and never acted like anything was different.
*She thinks books are fun but mostly for eating purposes.
*She talks all the way to daycare in the mornings and all of the way home in the afternoon.
*She has no interest in crawling at all. She crawled across the room several weeks ago and never did it again. That girl is super content with whatever situation she is in.
*Fruit and veggies are her favorite foods.
*Recently, she has become WAY scared of the vacuum. For real scared. Sees it and cries.
*She says a lot of sounds and Dada is her favorite.
*Sleeping is a big hobby of hers.
*Often, you just catch her laughing at John. For no reason.

Fun Facts About John:
*He has 2 teeth. And acts like he is getting a new one. Often.
*He can be calmed down almost any time with a book. He loves to listen and look at the pictures.
*He acts like every meal is his last. Double fisting came very easily to him.
*He has been working on crawling for 9 weeks now. We are blaming his belly. He will go for a few scoots, get sad, cry, and stop. He can also perfectly "hump" the floor.
*Grilled cheese is his favorite food by far.
*He jumps so much in the jumparoo that his feet peel.
*He generally just grunts.
*Sleeping is a casual hobby for John during the day but at night....he sleeps all night with no problem pooped from all of the playing.
*His nipples are a very funny area to him and he laughs uncontrollably if you touch them or play with them.

*Both babies love the pacifier. Thank goodness until about 2 years old when we need to let it go.
*If either of them wake up before we are ready for them to get up, they will just play in their cribs. Nice.
*They eat real food and some baby food at 8:00, 11:30, and 5:30. We have just a snack at 2:30 and then a big old bottle before bed at 8:00. Remember when they were on extra calorie formula? What a joke.

A Weekend Without Daddy

Although we missed Daddy desperately, we survived successfully through an entire weekend on our own! A play date thrown in and a visit from Miss Cortney gave this momma some help!

I did give my first bath. Ever. Joe started giving the baths when I was on maternity leave and never stopped. Since then, I have avoided it very easily. Until this weekend. And I had no choice. But we made it through and everyone got clean!

Note to self...when the outfit is so tight that it is giving a baby hungry crack through a diaper...it is time to put it to rest.

Our play date with Jake was super fun....

until Jake starting putting the moves on Virginia. Hilarious. First base watch out! I would like to think that the look on John's face was one of protection but I am pretty sure he is just wondering where her pacifier is.

This little stinker caused quite a fuss at dinner tonight. And I think she may have been proud.

A Dream

A lifelong dream has really come true. One of the greatest weeks of my life is approaching. As Joe would say....this is not about my loving husband or my beautiful home or my good job or my two wild and fun children. But this...is about the NIELSON TV VIEWING GROUP!!!!!!!!!!! So over Spring Break, we received a letter in the mail about being picked to be a Nielson family. I screamed. Actual screaming. And then I panicked that I missed the call. I checked the caller id. There was one "Private Name, Private Number" logged over the week. Ugh. I was concerned for 3 days that I missed it. Until they called me. Me. I answered "Heeellllooooooooo..." And Pam, from the Nielson family, said that I was the most excited person she had ever talked to. Score.

Her last words were...."Your week is May 13..." and it seemed as though it would never get here. But it did. And it is on. I woke up this morning with a civic duty to watch tv. My first log...support of my good friend Channel 12 news. Channel 12 got me through a lot of mornings in the hospital when there was nothing on tv at 6:30 a.m. when Joe would leave and I would not be able to get back to sleep. We have been watching tv nonstop since I got home from work. I think it might even be a good thing that Joe is off to Baltimore this weekend....these babies and I are going to be doing some serious tv watching. And for anyone who has been to our house....that is somewhat of a joke. Our tv is WAY to high and the babies can't even see it. Oh well....I still log that they are in the room!!!

Bring it on Nielson folks. As my friend said..."Allison....you have been training for this your whole life." Agreed.

Happy 10 Month Birthday!!

It was this week last year that I was told in a doctor's office that I was not going back to school. I looked at Joe and said "Can you take me to do my sub plans?" The doctor looked at Joe. And then looked at me...

The Dr.: You are not going back to work tonight sweetie.
Allison: Oh ok. I am sure someone can do them for me for tomorrow.
The Dr.: Uh. You are not going back to school. You are going into the hospital.
Allison: Wait. What?

And so it began.....

This is what happens on birthday picture day when you are 10 MONTHS OLD! Boo!

He loved it.

It was a strong morning for John.

See.

That really is some hair.
