The Paparazzi Strikes Daily

Here is what Joe thinks of my photography sessions...

Bottles For Everyone

...well of milk that is! And maybe a beer for Mommy and Daddy! Both babies made it to the bottle! Virginia is having two a day and John did great with his first bottle today! We are thrilled since going "full bottle" is really the last major thing to master before coming home! They work their way up to more food in the bottle and more bottles for each day.

We had our first official photo shoot today. A real photographer came to the room courtesy of March of Dimes. When you have babies in the NICU/PCN they will come do the session and give you the prints for free! Both babies were awake and had on adorable outfits. We will for sure post pics when we get them back. Of course I was also snapping when she was...it was like the paparazzi. But who are we kidding...these kids paid no attention. They have lived these 20 days with me taking pictures with the flash on religiously. Each night I will think that I have not taken a lot and it is always....50 or 60 or so.

Last night, John weighed 3 lbs. 13 oz. and Virginia weighed 3 lbs. 10.3 oz. They are gaining weight like nobody'a business.

Paps with his 3rd grandson!

John's first bottle!!!!!!!!!!

I am not keeping score...but Joe has fed her two bottles and I have only fed her one. Well, I guess I am keeping score.

John, John, John...

Ok, ok...so I guess I post more about Virginia than John...

I get the hint. And by hint I mean the blatant telling me that I do...thanks mom and Ashley! If you look back, it mainly has to do with outfits and coordinating things. Unless you all want me to try to get a bow in that boy's hair...you get what you get! I did put a video of him on last night! At least he is in camouflage today...very manly. He is doing great...hopefully onto bottle feeding tomorrow. I think he may be the first to get into a big boy bed...a crib!

P.S. Joe gave her the bottle today and she did great! So did Joe!

I woke up to donuts...made boy scout style. YUM!

So comfy!

Looking up at his Granny B!

Ready for hunting season...

How did Aunt Ashley get this lucky?

Totally Different

So the PCN is WAY different than the NICU! I guess we did not realize how exciting and independent it would be! It is less intense and we get to do a lot of things on our own. The whole atmosphere is different!

They took the glow light (similar to ET) off both kids and we no longer need to weigh their diapers...apparently they are both getting pretty regular! She likes to save hers up for the whole day and have one huge blowout.

The big news for today....Virginia had her first bottle!!!!!! The bottle lady came by to show me how it would be done. With preemies, it is a whole different feeding and burping style. In the middle of it, she said Virginia was doing great and she just passed her right on to me. It was so much fun to feed her! They said John would be on to bottles feeding soon!

This kid is pooped from the move yesterday!

Her first bottle feeding!!!!!
P.S. I think the new room with a "view" is lightening her hair. No need for lemon juice with this one.

I LOVE THIS OUTFIT!

Can you see how coordinated her bed is?

He is awake!!! Don't mind the shiny eye...we are getting over a weird tear duct!

Moving On Up...Well Really Just Back To 3West

On my way to see the babies today, I was feeling a touch emotional. I was feeling as though we were in a holding pattern and that I needed a big change to happen to feel like there was some progress being made. Virginia was doing so well with her feeding, I was hoping that they were going to decrease her feeding time a little bit. When I got in to the NICU, her nurse said that she had spit up a little bit and that they were going to INCREASE her feeding time. Apparently, I lost it. I was a mess...two tissue boxes! After some visitors, I slowly got over it. And a beer at lunch helped as well.

Joe and I went back over this afternoon. I asked how the afternoon went and the direct quote was "We have some news..." But it was said with two sad faces. The nurses crowded around me and told me that I probably needed to sit down. They even brought the tissue box over because they know me so well. (Before I go on, I should probably tell you that on Saturday they told me John was ready to go up to the next nursery but she was not because she did not weigh enough. I cried. A lot. The nurse came back over about an hour later and said "We have a new plan..." and they decided to keep them together. Then I had the mother's guilt that I was holding him back...I could not win!) So...I asked them with tears coming down my face if John was moving up. They said yes...they waited what seemed like forever and said that she was going too! Whew... Much to their dismay, the babies were moved up at 7! The nurses tried to remind the Doctors all of the reasons that they should not go...because they were SO SAD that the babies were leaving.

So they moved up to the Progressive Care Nursery tonight! This is the nursery that they will be released from...so this is a HUGE deal. It is on the same hall (3West) that I spent all of my bed rest on....so really they are coming home to a place they already know. It is VERY laid back. We can apparently get them out without asking. Who knew! They have their own room with two windows and a view...of Kristina's house! Actually, their room is WAY bigger than my hospital room.

This was a big day for us...we feel like very proud parents. We are thrilled that they are one step closer to home.

A last look at their spots in the NICU!

Their new room....seriously...I wish I had this space on my many weeks of bed rest!

Proud Daddy

This was a gift from his Daddy...

Although Joe objected, I had to give this kid his first mohawk!

Ok....for you non-believers of the hair on this child...here you can see a close up of the hair on his face. It is like Teen Wolf. Don't be jealous Mary!

Thanks for visiting Jones girls!!!

I promise I won't cry next time you come to play Jennifer!

The first of many...

The first of many...bows!!! What a treat! We came into today to a bow in Virginia's hair! I did not think it was possible but Nurse Grace really knows how to make me smile!

We had an uneventful day today...which is good. Both babies are doing well with their food and everything else! John is weighing in at 3 lbs. 9 oz. and Virginia is weighing in at 3 lbs. 6 oz. I visited my Dr. today and got a good report...he even said I could get in the pool if I could make it there. YAY!

Just lounging...

Thanks Nurse Grace...this picture is hilarious!

Proof that he is learning to hold his pacifier in too!

We love our new blankets!

Thanks Ashworth and Dorsett families!

The first bow...

Could it be any cuter???????????

He is very good at smiling for me!
