Developmental Clinic

There are perks to having NICU babies! First, the beautiful pictures from the March of Dimes...now we get free advice and recommendations for the babies! Our hospital offers a free developmental clinic for all graduates of the NICU. We go every few months to get a medical and developmental checkup. We had our first visit today. (Last night we did cram in some tummy time for good measure...) It was great...they spent 2 hours with us. The short of it is....the babies are fantastic! They were so surprised and pleased with their progress as 30 weekers! They gave us suggestions to increase their development such as putting them on their sides, holding toys to work on grasping, etc.

They both have eczema...good thing we were seeing Virginia's dermatologist after to get some suggestions! As far as their medical side, both looked awesome! No concerns at all....well except John's weight. And I don't mean on the low end. What a beefy boy!!! There was even a suggestion to ask the pediatrician about eating baby food for lunch too. Less calories. Shame.

The stats (clearly we have caught up):

John: 17 lbs. 10.2 oz. for weight and 25.25 inches for height

Virginia: 15 lbs. 4.4 oz. for weight and 24 inches for height

His favorite new toy!!!

Look how good this girl was at the dermatologist! The Dr. said her knee is better....the infection (on the hemangioma) is gone and the bleeding has stopped. We will continue to put the medicine and bandage on daily and work on getting her some knee pads for her tummy time.
